If money were no issue?

If I didn't have to make money...?
This is the sixth in a series of seven exercises designed to help you reflect on and gain perspective on the career choices you are making.
Here’s a thought experiment: If you didn’t have to make money, what would you choose to do with your time?
Of course, money does matter. But this question is useful in the package of questions we are exploring as it helps you cut through layers of obligation and gives a nod to your interests and divers.
I'm personally fortunate that what I do in my career mostly aligns with things I am intrinsically interested in, but even so when I ask myself this question I notice increasing shifts in my career thinking. Maybe you will surface a long-held creative ambition, or maybe it’s mentoring, teaching, or building something tangible.
Taking time to ponder this question can also highlight where a side hustle might play a role. Having a side hustle gives you space to explore passions, develop skills, and even create alternative income streams.

How to ponder this:
Set aside ten quiet minutes with a notebook or voice memo app and just ponder what you would do if money need not be a factor in your career decision making. The following questions might get you started:
-
If money wasn't a factor, what would you do next Monday morning?
-
What activities make you lose track of time, regardless of whether they pay?
-
What is something you have always wanted to learn, build, or create but haven't had the chance to?
-
If financial success didn't count, what success factors would you use?
-
What "wild idea" have you shelved because it didn't seem practical?
-
What hidden talents would you give space to if you had all the time and resources to purse them?
As always, wishing you a flourishing career.
